I had a pleasant birthday surprise yesterday when Matt Dorfman from the Op-Ed page woke me up. In wake of the recent Penn State atrocities, columnist David Brooks gave a sharp critique of all of our own feelings of moral superiority.

Just a quick update over here! I did today's NY Times Op-Ed page main illo for the article Shortchanged by the Bell. This was the fastest larger project I've had to date and it totally killed my nerves but we pulled through! Big thanks Josh and Alexandra! This is my contribution to NOBROW 6, which is going to rock everyone's socks off!

I did a little painting for RAW's 5 year anniversary show in Manchester. If you're out there in the UK, u should go! All the profits are going to charity!

Also, I've been in Southern Maine for the last week and I tried to get some sketchbooking done since I've been slacking for most of the year. Here's the first spread thus far!

And lastly, I'll be in Baltimore on the 24th! I'm super excited! Speaking of B'more, Abby did some cool character drawings for B Newspaper recently! check em out if you're in the area! Also if you're on the west coast, pick up The Stranger since Niv has a drawing on the front cover this week!

The Atlantic: Fiction 2011

Hi everyone, a few little things to share for the moment (until you guys finally get to see some new stuff next week!):

1) I'm trying to update more often but I'm just in an awkward time when I can't show things yet (but that's not that bad is it?). BUT I'm going to post tiny tidbits of things! :D

2) I'm also working on a new letter-sized promo 'zine which will get put out through Get Lost. Here are a few screencaps!




3) Here's a cool photo of GRRM looking at our new Game of Thrones 'zine! also in the photo is the lovely Kris Mukai (who made me a journal for our PUNK ROCK PIZZA CREW TOUR) and was huge in bringing the GoT 'zine to life.

4) If you're in Baltimore, you should go to Artscape and get a hand fan with my whale drawing on it! M|I|C/A is printing a bunch up for promo and things! Also, somebody could pick me up one that'd be cool too :3

Blood Magic

a quickie for Kris Mukai's Game of Thrones 'zine! I have not read the books (probably won't either) but a group of us made an event of watching it every Sunday. nerds unite


and some other doodles since I just bought a cintiq and I'm still working out the kinks!
